Dear Friends in Knitting:
2007 was one busy year for me with all the
celebrations in my family - i.e., our first grandson was born, my mother in law turned 90, my parents celebrated their
60th wedding anniversary, my daughter graduated from high school and started college, my husband and I celebrated our 20th
anniversary and we also became "empty nesters"! HUGE year! Whew! I'm a little bit glad it's all over and
I'm looking foward to 2008 being a bit less on the busy side. I plan to take time each and every day to knit and read
(my two main hobbies). I also need to hit the gym once in a while, as knitting and reading are not condusive to a fit
bod! As for New Years Resolutions, I have a few suggestions for you:
* Learn a new knitting technique
* Try felting
* Knit socks (they're great travel projects!)
* Start up or attend a knitting group (Come
on, it'll be FUN!)
* Knit whenever you're sitting still (like
watching the TUBE!)
* Teach a young person to knit (we need to
keep knitting ALIVE!)
* Learn the Kitchener Stitch (it's not THAT hard!)
I am currently involved in 3
projects which I am enjoying so much...one is the Kuani Sweater which received much acclaim on the Stephanie McPhees website:
www.yarnharlot.ca
It is stupendous! It is to die for!
I have so loved doing it and can't wait til it's finished, which is any day now. Now, if the weather would just cooperate
a bit so I can enjoy wearing it outside, that would be fabulous! I am also knitting a sweater for my husband, done on
very tiny #3 needles, so it is taking a while, as it is full of cables, etc. Quite a challenge. And, I have my
ever present project of socks on a set of needles as well.
Besides kntiting, I also read whenever I can. I
especially enjoy historical fiction. I have joined a book club, which I thought I would never do, and last fall began
working part time at our local library, which I have really loved.
Life is good!
Keep knitting and I pray that you all
have a healthy, happy 2008!
Yours in Knitting,
Shelley
